“The Conflict in Iraq has Ended”

“The conflict in Iraq is ended.”

Sounds so simple, doesn’t it? I’ve been wondering just what it means.
What are the ways to “end” conflict? Keeping supporters happy because, without a “win,” there is no “loss”? To deny a win is to deny a loss. Vocabulary without value is but a symptom of the disease Washington unleashed from the Pandora’s bag against US.

The conflict is ended.” He didn’t say we “won,” so our troops will be coming home in retreat. We’re leaving without winning. It is “ended.”

It’s “ended.” Does that mean we lost?

    Good point.

I think it means we won, but Pres. Obama didn’t really want to imply that somebody deserved credit for “winning,” because that would point back to Bush…

Senator Obama voted against whatever good happened in Iraq, so he may be disappointed our efforts weren’t complete failure.
For him, “the confict is ended” may be relief from seeing good things happen that he was opposed to.

I just hope we can finish and win in Afghanistan. President Bush said it would be long and hard but we will win, when these wars started.

Finishing a war isn’t the same as finishing a final exam, which can be finished with the score any degree in a range from failing to passing: A-F or 100-0.

There are only two ways to finish a war: win or loose.
The generals and our troops know they’re on the winning army. And we know to pray to the God our country’s founding fathers looked to for inspiration. I think Bush was right about war to separate US from Islamic terrorists: long and hard, but we will win.

And we know our current President doesn’t have what it takes to say we won. He doesn’t even have the since to name the enemy.
