So, what’s Hawaii got more of that the rest of US?
We have VAT. It’s “Value Added Tax,” what we have in place of a sales tax. Visitors come here and drool: “Your sales tax is only 4.5%! Lucky you live Hawaii!” Little do they realize that the VAT, a.k.a. General Excise Tax, is accumulative, added to every transaction and compounded, at every level.
